Important Drive Information

Drive Schedules

Drives are scheduled for 1 hour and it is very important that you arrive on time. We have a 10-minute grace period that may be exercised one time only. If you arrive too late for your scheduled drive, you will not be able to start the drive and will be charged a $40 Late Cancellation Fee.

Late Cancellation, Missed Drive, or No Show Policy

You may cancel your drive time through our online scheduling system or by calling our office at least 24 hours in advance without incurring a penalty. You may leave a voicemail as long as it is within that 24 hour time frame.

Weather Cancellations

While it is uncommon, drive lessons may be cancelled due to weather at the discretion of the instuctor. In th event of a weather related cancelletion, Drive Zone staff will contact you as soon as the decision is made. If the student is not comfortable with a weather related situation, he/she should inform Drive Zone as soon as possible.

Driving Attire, etc.

Students must wear proper shoes for driving (No Sandals or Flip-Flops). Instructors reserve the right to cancel your drive if proper attire is not worn.

Student must have their plastic Permit with photo along with proper eyewear if needed.

Parent Ride-A-Long

Parents are strongly encouraged to ride along on one of the 6 drives. We prefer that you choose from lessons #2 (light traffic), #3 (rural), #4 (heavy traffic). This ride-along does not need to be pre-arranged. Please speak with your instructor if you have questions.

Teen Practice Driving with Parents

In Indiana, all new drivers are required to obtain 40 hours of daytime practice and 10 hours of night time driving practice while they hold their permit. It is beneficial that students practice between drive lessons to maximize the effectiveness of the course.

Practice Driving

We want to emphasize this important component in this process leading to safe drivers. Keep it simple and basic, with parking lots and residential at first and then progress to other driving environments after we introduce that environment and when you are comfortable.
